Asia Argento, born in Rome to a family that includes directors and actors, pursued both professions. As a young girl the actress began her acting career in Sergio Cittis's Sogni e bisogni. She portrayed the lead role in Cristina Comencini's first feature film Zoo (1988) and as in addition to being a part of Michele Soavi's cast for The Church (1989). Next, in 1989 she was Nanni Moretti's (also directed by Michele Soavi) child in Red Wood Pigeon. Close Friends, written and directed Michele Placido in 1992, was the film that launched Asia's career off. From playing young girls, she shifted to perform more challenging and mature roles. Cannes International Film Festival was an enormous movie's success. Trauma (1996) and The Stendhal Sydrome are the other films she has made with her famous father. The Phantom of the Opera, which was made together with her late father and is the final of three movies she's been involved in. The other two were Trauma and The Stendhal Syndrome. Giuseppe Piccioni employed her deeply absorbed and intense acting style in Condannato, a nozze. Patrice Chereau directed Queen Margot and she also played an important character. In 1995, she acted alongside Michel Piccoli in Peter Del Monte's Traveling Companion , which again won her a David diDonatello as well as a Grolla d'oro. Asia began her career in 1994 as a director when she made two short films: Prospettive (1996), a document on her father, and Abel/Asia (1998), a film about cult filmmaker Abel Ferrara. The latter won an award from the Rome Film Festival. Asia began directing her first feature film in 1999. It was Scarlet Diva (2000). The film also featured her as the principal actress, and the author of the film's script. The film came out on May 20, 2000, in Italy as well as the rest of the world. It was awarded a trophy in the Williamsburg International Film Festival in Brooklyn. After directing numerous music videos and giving birth, she welcomed the first of her daughters, Anna Lou. In 2002, she starred as Jean-Marc Barr's co-star in The Red Siren (Olivier Megaton) as well as Vin Diesel was the star in Rob Cohen's thriller The Action. Asia can also be the creator of several short stories published in many high-end magazines.
